Marian Catholic Singers to present Holiday Madrigal Dinners on Dec. 7-8
The Marian Catholic Fine Arts Department will present its 10th Annual Christmas Madrigal Dinners in the Marian Catholic High School Band Room on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Seating begins at 6 p.m. each evening.
The Madrigal Dinner is a modern re-creation of the holiday atmosphere of Elizabethan England. It was common practice for a lord and lady to invite 200 of their closest friends to spend the entire Twelve Days of Christmas with them, complete with feasting, drinking, song and entertainment!
Marian Catholic will attempt to re-create that atmosphere. For the price of admission, guests will receive a scrumptious dinner catered by Pepino’s in Schererville, Ind., and a copy of the Madrigal Singers CD. The dinners will also feature comedy entertainment provided by a King, Queen, Court Jester and Serving Wench (all played by student actors). The dinners also provide holiday music, featuring the Marian Catholic Madrigal Singers.
Greg Bimm and the Marian Band Program will provide brass and flute ensembles to add to the holiday atmosphere.
Tickets are $25 and reservations must be made in advance. To order tickets or for more information, please contact Mrs. Michelle Howisen, Choral Director at 708-756-9442.
