60-Day Suspension for Will County Judge who Viewed Porn at Work
The Illinois Courts Commission called Judge Joseph Polito's use of work hours to view sex sites an "inexcusable waste of judicial time."
The Will County judge who claimed his addiction to porn caused him to view sex Web sites while at work was suspended for 60 days without pay Friday by the Illinois Courts Commission.
While people do develop addictions to alcohol, drugs and pornography, the commission wrote that Judge Joseph Polito's decision to do engage in porn viewing while at work was an "inexcusable waste of judicial time that should have been spent on available judicial duties,” according to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times.
Polito, 69, told the commission in November that he suffered from a lifelong addiction to porn, which crossed over into his work day. While he used county computers to view sex Web sites, he said his actions did not affect the rulings he made on the bench.
Polito's 60-day suspension begins Feb. 16, the Sun-Times story said.

Wouldn't the average Joe be fired for this kind of behavior on company time? I guess elected officials are exempt from proper discipline. That's your tax dollars working for ya! :) Wonder if he works sex offender cases?

Mike - He was Family Court (I know - Right!) before being placed as as a floating judge handling traffic cases and other minor offenses. I don't believe he is an elected official since he is an Associate Judge. I believe they are elected on a merit basis, by the Circuit Judges.
Sounds like he's stepping down after his term is up in 2 1/2 yrs anyway. Guess that's a good thing because I wouldn't put it past our "Judicial System" to reinstate him.
With that said, I sure hope Will Co. remembers this, as well as what Chief Judge Gerald Kinney did to try to keep it covered up.

I was in that man's court room because of child support a few years back and he didn't care about the law and right or wrong. Anyway, shouldn't an offense like this be an automatic loss of job? He must have not been good in the family courts to have been moved to a floating position, personal experience aside. He is 69, force him to retire and get him out of our courtrooms. Illinois politics at its best.

Wow. that was a hard slap on the wrist. Those that hand out stiff justice like it soft on themselves.
What's good for the goose, is not so good for the gander. Will County: 'nuff said.

New Title: Will County: Hard on Crime, yet Soft on Porn.
No mention that it was a FAMILY COURT JUSTICE viewing kiddie-porn (teen sites) on his work computer. No double-standard here folks. Just a 2-month vacation until this blows-over.

Again, oddly enough, no picture of the perp. No criminal charges. No revoked pension.
Do as I say, not as I do.

Where does it say it was kiddie porn? Is that true or were you just making it up? Also, the "picture of the perp" is on the news article you listed.

If you read the other penalties that courts hand-down on child porn, you will see much harsher penalties. Why is this so soft? Ohh, he's a Judge.

"He was sentenced to three years for the possession of child pornography, a class 2 felony"
Hypocrites.

He was looking at ADULT porn, not kiddie porn. It's still indefensible and he should be dumped. But get your facts straight. Posting something so blatantly false could open you up to a lawsuit.

Does teenagesextape.com sound like ADULT porn? Not so much.
I agree that the penalty was a joke. Somebody provided a SunTimes link to a bad photo, but where is the booking photo against the cinder-block wall like every other pervert?
Different strokes for different folks.
