Update: One Injured In Car Accident Near L-W East

A car accident near Lincoln-Way East High School shortly after 1 p.m. slowed traffic on La Grange Road Monday.

One person was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields with minor injuries after a multi-vehicle accident about 1:15 p.m. Monday.

Frankfort police said the accident report was unavailable but Frankfort Fire District Assistant Chief Larry Rauch said was victim was transported by ambulance to St. James.

The accident tied up the intersection of Colorado Street and La Grange Road for less than an hour.

Witnesses on the scene said it appeared a vehicle attempting to turn left from La Grange Road onto Colorado and a northbound car struck each other. One vehicle was stuck in the middle of the intersection and the second car landed off the road. Both sustained heavy damage. A third car was also being towed from the scene of the crash.
