Covered in Gold: DJ Arrested While Huffing Gold Paint

The Shorewood DJ never made it in the door of the Mokena bar that hired him, police said.

Do you think he spins gold records?

Donald D. Duddleston Jr., 38, of the 1400 block of Callaway Drive North, Shorewood, was arrested and charged with use of intoxicating compounds and resisting arrest after huffing gold spray paint outside a bar where he was supposed to DJ, police said.

Police described Duddleston as "dazed" and "incoherent," with gold paint on his lips, chin, hands arms and body. There also was gold paint on both the outside and inside contents of Duddleston’s car, including a child safety seat, police said.

Police were called to Morgan's Restaurant and Thunderbowl on 18700 Old La Grange Road shortly before 11 p.m. July 22 on reports of a man huffing something in the parking lot and causing a disturbance. Morgan's security later told police Duddleston had been hired to DJ, but never made it in the building.

When police arrived, they shone their spotlight on Duddleston and told him to drop a gold-colored plastic bag and red spray-paint can he was holding. In response, Duddleston put the can up to his mouth and inhaled deeply, police said.

He then tried to run away, stumbling as he ran.

The spray-paint can, Dutch Boy Acrylic Enamel (Gold 3740), was entered into evidence. Duddleston’s next court date is 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Will County Courthouse.
