Dig the Pig? Tell Us Your Favorite Pulled Pork to Win a $50 Gift Card
This week your local editors tried pulled pork in Frankfort, Mokena and New Lenox. The place with the most reader reviews and comments wins, and by participating you can get a shot at winning a $50 gift card to a local restaurant.
For this week's Chowdown Showdown, local editors Joe Vince (Frankfort), Paul Dailing (Mokena) and Michael Sewall (New Lenox) tried pulled pork in their respective Patch towns.
Our reviews are in the photo captions above, but to truly give a restaurant the title of "Most-Loved Pulled Pork in the Lincoln-Way Area," we need your help. Here's what you can do:
- Comment: Leave comments below to show support for your favorite.
- Upload photos: Click "Add Photos & Video" near the photos above and upload a shot of your favorite pulled pork. Tell us where it's from in the caption.
- Review: You can write a review in the business directory to let us know they've got great pulled pork. Click on the names of the restaurants below to write your review.
The restaurant that gets the most positive reviews, comments and photos added between now and noon Sunday, April 8, will be named the winner.

Not one of the three towns above but Louisianna BBQ on Richards st in Joliet has the best BBQ anywhere. Its located next to the J&J Fish near the Dollar store on Richards st across from Certified grocery store. Best Brisket and Best pulled pork...

Mindy's is the place to go for pulled pork in the area. But the best by far is Famous Dave's BBQ in Orland Park, which is still pretty close to us.

Man, I miss that place... :( The Mokena one used to be really good. Not driving all the way up to Midlothian for it, though.

I really like the Irish Pig. Their garlic fries are amazing and the sandwiches have just the right amount of sauce for me. Can't eat there too often, though, that stuff is a heart attack on a plate.

For someone who claims to not like cheap food from truck stops to comment on pig slop is ironic! Are you slumming now?

Smokey barque's pulled pork is great! And you can chose from six different sauces to put on yourself, which is great because I don't like when its already soaked in bbq. And they have a bunch of different sides that come with it to chose from. If you haven't tried smokey barque you should! Its a great place. And their flatbread appetizer pizza is our favorite.

I'm pretty sure Smokey Barque is the only one on this list who actually SMOKES their pork! The other places that I've tried on this list are alright, but they're usually drenched in BBQ to mask the fact that the meat isn't all that great. Smokey Barque is real BBQ. No contest.

@Smokey Barque lovers:
I'm in a bit of a rut when I go to Smokey Barque. What else should I order instead of the pulled pork?

Definitely the brisquet. Well, or the baby back ribs. I like the Memphis sauce.

My dad had the burger when we went yesterday and was impressed (but ask for it a little less done than you like, as it was a bit more "medium" than desired); get the flatbread pizza appetizer, that is my favorite. The sides are great, try them all, I like the sweet tots. Ribs have a great flavor, and I like the sliced brisket. Just get a few people together and order a bunch of different plates and share; that's what we do and how to find your favorites.

Smokey Barque is the place for Pulled Pork! The Carolina Sandwich is the best with the North Carolina sauce and creamy coleslaw on top! And their Service is OUTSTANDING!! You have to save room for the bread pudding!

Love, Love, Love their pulled pork sandwiches. The meat is so tender and tasty with an all natural smoked flavor, it's just mouth watering delicious. I love that they give you 6 different sauces to choose from. Nothing can compare or even come close to the yummy goodness of the Smokey Barque Pulled Pork Sandwich in downtown Frankfort. THE BEST IN THE LINCOLNWAY AREA!!!!!!!

I LOVE pulled pork. I've only been to a bit more than half of those, but I gotta agree with the above ones - Smokey Barque's got the best. That they smoke it really makes a huge difference in the tenderness and flavor. Will have to give the others a shot someday, but I doubt they'll compare.

For such a new restaurant, Smokey Barque has a lot of vocal supporters. Not only have a lot of readers commented on this Chowdown Showdown over the past two days, but many of them have left reviews in our Patch business directory.
The place must be doing something right to drum up this kind of support in such a short period of time.

Smokey Barque has the best pulled pork sandwich around. The fact that you can choose your own sauce is great. I like to mix my sauces Texas and Memphis. I can add just the right amount of sauce unlike other places that have so much sauce on it the bun gets to wet and falls apart. Smokey Barque's pulled pork also has that authentic smokey flavor. Yep, Smokey Barque the best pulled pork.

Jean - That must be a different Smokey Barque, because the one on Kansas Street is awesome. You should give it another try.
