If you're heading out to the Frankfort Fall Festival, you'll probably want to make sure you bring rain gear.

Here's what the National Weather Service has to say about Saturday:

Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

But a little rain won't stop the Fall Fest.

A lot of rain can be a different story.

"The Festival always continues in the rain as long as there are not severe storms," fest chairwoman Cindy Heath stated in an email. "Those umbrellas pop out and people keep shopping. In fact, since the crowds are down it's an easier time to see all the booths."

Festival officials keep track of weather conditions in the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce office where a Frankfort Police officer stays in touch with monitoring stations, Heath said, adding that it's the police department that makes the final call to shut down the event because of severe weather.

"We notify the vendors personally and make announcements over the loud speakers to visitors," Heath stated in an email.

Last year, a late-afternoon storm closed the festival—it opened a while later—and visitors were able to wait it out for a time in some of the downtown buildings and businesses, Heath added.

What's Happening Saturday?

Here's a look at some of the special events scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1—the first official day of the festival—as well as the hours the carnival is open. Frankfort Fall Festival Schedule

SATURDAY
9:45-10 a.m.: Opening ceremonies and ribbon-cutting at the Info Booth
10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Arts and crafts exhibitors open
10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Food booths open

Carnival

When: 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday
Where: The new parking lot next to the Trolley Barn, near Kansas and White streets
Cost: $1.50 per ticket; $25 for 22 tickets; $60 for 55 tickets. Rides and attractions need between two to four tickets per person.

Breidert Green Stage

Where: Breidert Green
Cost: Free

SATURDAY
11 a.m.: Kings of Dixieland (Dixieland)
1 p.m.: TNT (R&B and soul)
3 p.m.: Greg Schneider Band (country)

Beer And Entertainment Tent (BETA)

Where: Breidert Green parking lot
Cost: $5 after 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday**. $2 from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Children younger than 12 are free before 6 p.m. Food will be served by the Lincoln-Way East High School Music Boosters.

FRIDAY
7:30-11 p.m.: Five Guys Named Moe (classic rock)

SATURDAY
1-5 p.m.: Leadfoot and Bluegrass Escape (bluegrass)
7-11 p.m.: Midlife Crisis (music from the '60s to today)

*No one younger than 21 is allowed in the entertainment tent after 6 p.m.
