Five Things You Need To Know This Week: Park District Classes Moved

  • There will be a Mokena 159 meeting at Mokena Elementary School, 11244 Willowcrest Ln on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.. Discussion will include budget reduction for the 2011 school year and recommendations if the referendum passes in April. Read the full agenda here.
  • The Mokena Park District has moved some of its classes this week from the administrative building at Main Park to the Walnut Room at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 LaPorte Rd. The classes are:
    • All By Myself - Monday Feb. 7 and Tuesday, Feb. 8
    • ComputerTots - Monday, Feb. 7
    • Irish Dance - Monday, Feb. 7
  • On Tuesday, Feb. 8, the Mokena Community Public Library District, 11327 W. 195th St, will provide free tax help to low and moderate income taxpayers with an emphasis on those 60 years and older, courtesy of AARP Tax-Aide. Tax assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday until April 12. More information can be found here.
  • The New Shangai Circus will bring its ages-old acrobatics, contortions and choreography to Lincoln-Way West, 21701 S. Gougar Rd, New Lenox, on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. More information can be found here.
  • There will be a Mokena Historical Society meeting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb 12 at Village Hall, 11004 Carpenter St.
