Frankfort Pediatrician Accused of Groping Women Arrested; Four New Victims Come Forward
Dr. Kishor Jain, of Frankfort, turned himself in to police on Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
A Frankfort pediatrician accused of sexually abusing five women in his office was arrested on a warrant Friday by Frankfort police, according to a press release from the Frankfort Police Department.
READ: Frankfort Doc Accused of Groping Women Faces New Lawsuit
Dr. Kishor Jain is charged with 10 felony counts of criminal sexual abuse and five misdemeanor counts of battery related to a 2011 complaint and subsequent lawsuit, as well as recent reports from additional victims.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jain from the State’s Attorneys Office on Feb. 15. Jain turned himself in and was released after posting the $10,000 bond.
Jain was charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual abuse and one count of battery for each of five women he allegedly attacked in his office at the Hedges Clinic at 222 Colorado Ave.
The victims range in age from 22 to about 30, said special prosecutor Dave Neal. The victims include Jessica Schubbe, 29, of Manteno, who sued Jain in January for allegedly groping her. Schubbe, who in the criminal complaint is identified as Jessica Greenwood, reported Jain to the Frankfort police in 2011.
After her lawsuit was publicized, the four other women came forward and contacted the police. None of the women know each other, Neal said.
Previously, Jain had been accused of molesting six women in his office on separate occasions over the course of several years. He has never been found guilty of any charges related to the accusations.
Jain will appear in court for a bond hearing on March 19.

Dr. Jain is a great doctor and has been the pediatritian in our family through almost two generations now. Never for a second would I or anyone in my family ever believe any of these ALLEGED "attacks." He is an outstanding gentleman and a genuinely concerning professional that doesnt deserve to have his name tainted like this especially when they are only allegations. Even when found not guilty this will always follow him and it is a disgrace. They mention in the article that the women didnt even know each other and that may be true, but you would only need one record of having an appointment with someone and see in the papers that somebody has filed a complaint already, making it so easy and tempting to jump on the band wagon.

Do you really think four independent, adult women would risk THEIR reputations to arbitrarily attack someone in a position of power and social status without strong cause? He was accused by six other women over the years, found not guilty and returned to practice. But where there's smoke, there's fire. So let the courts once again make that call whether he is guilty. I, for one, would not trust a doctor I knew had been accused multiple times not of malpractice but of sexual attacks. And it's attitudes like these that make rape victims and other victims of violence (women AND men!) hesitate to come forward. If the doctor did nothing wrong, he will be exonerated -- again! And these women are of legal age, so their names also will be public information during the trial, if not sooner. Do you think that they would risk intense public scrutiny for no purpose, knowing he had been found innocent previously? Sure, it's possible, but seems very unlikely. So let's try considering the honesty of the alleged victims' claims before rushing to judgment based solely on your limited interactions with the doctor.

So you were there, huh, Eric, whenever they took their kids to the pediatrician? You were there in the office and saw everything that happened. We give the accused the benefit of a doubt: innocent until proven guilty. How about giving the accusers the same right: honest until proven otherwise. I sense a misogynist double-standard, because certainly the good doctor couldn't possibly have done this, right? You know with certainty that he didn't accost these women? Right! Few people would expose themselves to scrutiny for no purpose, especially given that he has beaten such accusations in the past. I do hope you never had/have a family member assaulted by someone in a position of power. Surely you'd be singing an entirely different tune, and "Blame the victim" isn't the tune I had in mind!

Does everyone who is defending this man think for a minute just because he didn't try anything with you that he didn't with those women? None of us were there so there is no reason to demonize the women who filed the complaints. They would not have arrested him if they didn't have sufficient evidence to do so. He will get his day in court. Apparently the victims are getting their day in the Patch where people who weren't even there will decide if they are lying. This is exactly why abuse victims don't come forward.

NLMom,
I don't think I ever fully realized the way women actively participate in this culture that protects sex offenders and isolates victims until reading these threads. You don't see this with any other type of crime. You're right. He'll get his day in court. In the meantime, the number of women who lie about sexual violence is statistically minute and accusations of lying are just more supporting of sex offenders.

If wide-spread allegations like these were made against someone I had trusted, I can imagine that I might be in denial. I might even needlessly blame myself for not being able to pick up on his traits. There are ten victims, but on a different level, there are many, many more.

Sounds like he doesn't need his day in court -- You're convinced he's guilty. What are his arguments in his defense that you disagree with? Trials cost us money -- surely you know what both sides are or you wouldn't be talking like this. The trial will bring out things we havent heard. How about letting the court decide his guilt and save your verdict for when you've heard both sides. You're no different than those who have predetermined his innocence.

Just remember that a sexual predator can still be very good at his day job! It's not necessarily mutually exclusive; people often compartmentalize their behaviors, intentionally or not. Someone who saved lives/helped people, etc., etc., and was a wonderful practitioner of (fill-in-the-blank occupation) could still be a threat to others.

I usually do not comment on stories like this. While KB and NLMom offer valid opinions (which they are entitled to express in this free country), it is obvious that they do not have first hand knowledge or experience with either side in this story. While none if us will ever know the truth, we can speculate, judge and form our own opinions. Some of us will make comments like "Hedges sucks!". The point is, this is one of the greatest flaws in our legal system. There will not be any substantial evidence in a case like this. This man will be judged by his character and the testimony of others. My opinion may be biased as Dr. Jain has treated almost every child in my family (including my daughter). I can say without reservation, having my child treated by this man was not "irresponsible". My wife and I are over protective parents with one child. We selected Dr. Jain as our pediatrician after hearing several extremely positive recommendations from other parents. In my opinion, these allegations contrast the character and integrity of a good person and an extremely kind and caring pediatrician.

Only idiots accuse the victims further! I am sure they didn't ask Dr. Jain to "Please grope me"! It's insulting to society to have people be so ignorant to facts & details. Hopefully, the jury will prevail & justice will be served!!! These poor women need closure not $! I am sure they aren't gold diggers & only want money. There are other ways to obtain cash in this world. Not everyone is out for lawsuits & money. It's so easy to jump to conclusions & play the blame game. Shame on the people that do. Get your facts straight first before you go downgrading someone else & the detrimental experience they've suffered. God forbid a loved one of theirs ever suffers such an experience. Walk in their shoes first, then make these horrible comments. Intelligence is key here. Some people lack in this area!!!

2:15 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013
To all of you defending him, answer me this? If he is so intelligent why didn't he conduct all his patient evaluations with a nurse in the room after he was accused the first time? Any honest person would have considered self-preservation and the welfare of his clients to prevent this againIF the accusations were false.........
BTW Ted Bundy was one of the most liked criminals. Infact the police officer who worked side by side with him at a crisis hotline (because he liked to help people) thought of him as her son and wanted to set him up with her daughter........Jus' sayin'
laura
3:35 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013
Exactly, Christina B & TypeA! Anti-social personalities such as Bundy can easily deceive even the most jaded of mental health and law enforcement professionals. They have no qualms about their actions, no conscience about what they do to their victims, think THEY themselves are victims of society and are entitled. So WHY would this doctor, if he is innocent, risk being alone with females in his practice after the previous accusations? A nurse in the room at all times solves that issue. If he's truly that gullible or stupid, then I certainly wouldn't let him come within 100 feet of my kids or me!
Bob

I, too, wondered why he didn't see patients with a nurse in the room. That would have been the smart behavior. But there is a big difference between being smart and committing a crime. You seem to have difficulty telling the two apart. Suppose we let the court weigh all of the facts from both sides and not jump to premature and irresponsible conclusions?

The doctor allegedly touched her and two years later she is allegedly so traumatized by being touched that she is severely depressed, can't sleep, can't eat, can't go to work and can't function as a mother or contributing member of society. Did the doctor touch her? I don't know. Are her symptoms real? Combat veterans experience these symptoms. Violent rape victims experience these symptoms. Do people who have been touched in a busy doctor's office experience these symptoms? Sounds a little over the top . . .
Terri

You mention "her", which is singular, yet several women have some forth with the same story. Could they all have imagined these 'symptoms'?
Bob
11:32 am on Monday, February 18, 2013
I have not said anyone imagined anything. One woman is claiming post traumatic stress - a very serious disease - after being touched. I do not know what the other women are claiming. If this goes to civil court after criminal court, then the woman must prove she has been injured in some way if she wants to be compensated by the doctor. Both sides will use psychiatrists to try to prove or disprove that being touched can cause such severe and lasting disabilities. Have you ever been touched in a sexual way against your will? Many people have. Did they suffer these debilitating symptoms I mentioned above for years afterwards?
You can also bet that the woman claiming PTSD has been followed to see if she behaves contrary to someone with PTSD. All of this will come out if there is a civil trial.
Bob
11:52 am on Monday, February 18, 2013
I also don't know whether the PTSD symptoms she alleges are real or bogus. If it turns out she is not suffering these terrible symptoms as she claims then she could find herself in prison for attempted fraud.

The problem with all of you thinking that he is guilty is that as far as I can see, none of you have had him as a pediatrician. Accordingly, all you stereotypical critics do not recognize this as a individual case; he is a person. Observe his patients testimony; they do not label his behavior as sexually offensive. While of course he must be tried, it is my belief that all you opposing him and his innocence are working with a simple conditional logic- flawed logic. You critics seem to believe that if some doctors are tried and found to be guilty of a felony, then all doctors accused of similar actions are guilty. I am only a 16 year old, and I am on the whole astounded at the simplistic way most of you have viewed this, especially those of you resorting to profanity. The profane is only a mark of those who cannot undergo but forego complex thought process. If this sample of comments is at all representative of the world, then I can honestly shame I am ashamed to be in it. THINK before you act. Those who have thought have my respect. Lastly, this harsh speculation should end. What reason do any of you have to judge him for what a select few say? What is this world, and where has it gone.

If you mean *how* could the women give the same account, I would imagine they - like you - are very familiar with the prior investigation. *Why* would they give the same account? Maybe he's guilty. Or, maybe this is like when there is an accident on a CTA bus and *victims* jump on the bus after the fact cuz they see a way to cash in.
The truth is, I don't know the truth any more than you do. Hoping they find him guilty when you really don't know all of the facts sort of defeats the purpose of having an impartial trial to sort through the facts. How about hoping the truth comes out at the trial and the court finds its verdict accordingly?

Innocent until proven guilty. It doesn't take much to make a false statement that can ruin a person's professional career as well as his life. Even if proven innocent later, the suspicion is out there. You can't "unring a bell." Cases such as this should not get the public attention they do until the truth can be unfolded in court. If he's guilty, then he should receive just punishment. A rush to judgement serves no purpose.

Doesn't matter what I or any of you think, it will be up to 12 people and a judge to decide his fate. I too have taken my child to Dr Jain, and never had a problem. That doesn't mean that the person in the next room had the same experience. Lets all calm down and let the justice system do its job. A good question to ask: if these parents are being touched, why the hell would they continue to bring their children to see him?? Also, he was my pediatrician and I continued to see him till all of this happened (me being 21). He never did anything out of the ordinary with me. That's not to say these women are lying, but wouldn't you think (for the ones who are patients themselves) that they would have reported right away, or simply chose another doctor!? Wait, why would you continue to see a doctor that "takes advantage of you" lol k.. Anyone can say something happened to them, and in Frankfort area, I'm sure many will jump on the bandwagon with all of this. Let justice be served either way, if he's wrong he's wrong and should be punished for his doings, if not leave him alone.
