Fuller's Car Wash Celebrates Grand Reopening All Week

Mike Fuller, owner of the third generation family-run business, welcomes customers to drive through Fuller's Car Wash for a free express cleaning for four days this week to celebrate the grand reopening of the store.

As winter sets in, dirt and salt are bound to wreak havoc on your car's underbelly and paint job. Fuller's Car Wash in Mokena is just the ticket to keep your vehicle clean.

The owners, Mike and Don Fuller, a father and son team from Hinsdale, are celebrating a $2.5 million renovation with a four-day-long grand reopening beginning today. The 6,500-square-foot facility at 195th Street and LaGrange Road has three express lanes along with two full-service lanes.

The express lanes are a quick way to get rid of the dirt and grime. The cost for the drive-through service is between $3 and $12, depending on which amenities a driver chooses. The $3 service includes automated pay stations, light-duty cleaning only and free self-serve vacuums, while the $12 price tag offers heavy-duty cleaning with a jet blast spray, undercarriage blast, tire shine and free self-serve vacuums.

What gets Fuller's blood boiling with excitement is the store's heated super dry. "We've got state-of-the-art equipment," said Mike Fuller. The super dryer heats up to 120 degrees and eliminates almost to the drop all excess water from the car before it hits the street.

The lanes can accommodate most any car and pick-up trucks too, said Mike Fuller, the younger of the two. "They can take anything up to 7 feet tall."

This 13th Chicagoland store opted to continue offering its customers the choice of having the vehicle cleaned inside and out without lifting a finger. This is called the full-service feature, said Fuller. The windows are washed and every inch of the interior is cleaned, while the carpeting, even under the seats is vacuumed. The price for a full-service car wash ranges from $16.95 to $29.95.

What drives the Fullers to run car washes?

The history of Fuller's Car Wash, which was first a repair shop, dates back to the 1946 when a Hudson, Nash or a Desoto might have been steered into the lot in Hinsdale to get the engine purring perfectly. Fuller's grandfather ran the business in the post-World War II days. In the 1970s, Fuller's father Don and three uncles took over and turned their focus into keeping cars clean.

"It's in our blood. It's a family business," he said.

To celebrate the grand reopening, Fuller's is offering a free express wash and access to the heavy duty vacuums, which are free every day to customers. All express washes are free up to the $12 wash.

The store is open for express wash customers from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. For full-service, store hours are from 8a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. on Sundays.
