Little Joe's to Cut Ribbon Wednesday, Open Frankfort Location Thursday

The mayor and members of the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for Little Joe's Famous Pizza. The restaurant will officially open the next day.

Little Joe's Famous Pizza is no stranger to opening restaurants. It has locations in New Lenox and Tinley Park, not to mention originally opening on 63rd Street in 1958 on Chicago's south side (that site is no longer open).

But there's something a bit special about opening a Little Joe's in Frankfort.

"It feels wonderful," said Frankfort resident Sue Vazquez, who owns Little Joe's along with her husband, Abby. "It's great being able to have a place where you live."

Little Joe's begins its stay in the Crown Center Building on Lincoln Way Lane with a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. Mayor Jim Holland and members of the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for the ceremony, as well as invited friends and family, said Sue, adding that the event will be a soft opening of sorts for the restaurant.

The pizza shop will officially open for business Thursday, Sept. 20, and a larger grand opening will probably be held at a future date, Sue said. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The Frankfort location plans to take advantage of the Lincoln-Way East High School crowd, offering slices throughout the day, not just at lunch, Sue said. The restaurant also will serve a few light breakfast items, including a breakfast pizza with bacon, egg, cheese and other ingredients, she added.

And Wednesday will be a triple celebration of sorts for the Vazquez family. Not only will they cut the ribbon on a new place, but the day is also the anniversary of the opening of the original Little Joe's as well as Sue's birthday.

This is great news! I live in Frankfort and travel to New Lenox all the time for their great food. Now you'll be just down the street. Can't wait to see the new restaurant.
