Marc Alan Salon & Day Spa Offers Mokena Patch Readers a Discount

Geri Melyon, the owner of Mokena’s new Marc Alan Salon & Day Spa, has offered a 30 percent discount to Mokena Patch readers who print and bring in this article.

Whether you just need a touchup on your haircut or color, or you need a jam-packed day of overabundant luxury, Marc Alan Salon & Day Spa in Mokena is the answer to your beautifying prayers.

Geri Melyon and her husband Marc own the salon and have been in the salon business since 1978. The couple originally opened a small salon in Lansing, according to Melyon. In 1980, they decided to relocate to Flossmoor, where many clients lived.

After expanding their shop and services numerous times in that location, Melyon said Marc Alan became the first salon and day spa in the southern suburbs.

As business continued to grow, Melyon said they looked to expand once again by opening a second location, and they began looking in the Frankfort/Mokena area.

Marc Alan, 19070 S. Everett Lane, celebrated its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 3. The salon is in The Boulevard, an upscale strip of shops built several years ago that remained empty for years due to the economic downturn.

After about three years of searching and negotiating in the two towns, the couple decided on The Boulevard in Mokena, near the intersection of 191st Street and LaGrange Road.

“That was the next logical location because a lot of our clients had moved up to this area,” Melyon explained. “The economy started showing signs of recovery, so we decided now was a good time to get our second location going."

Melyon said her goal for the Mokena branch is to create a great reputation for the full-service salon and spa industry, and to provide exceptional service to all guests.

The services in Mokena match those in Flossmoor, Melyon said. They include a complete array of hair care, including cutting, styling and coloring, skin care, with over 10 facials to choose from, nails, including natural and artificial nails, manicures and pedicures, makeup, massages, spray tans and hair extensions.

The salon also specializes in group parties and bridal parties, Melyon said.

“We have great rooms where they can socialize,” Melyon explained. “We offer complimentary mimosas and fruit and cheese trays, on the day of weddings.”

Melyon mentioned haircuts and hair extensions as the most popular services at the salon.

“The extensions are really beautiful, and we do them quickly, but they are really comfortable,” Melyon said.

To ensure Mokena residents check out Marc Alan, Melyon has offered a 30 percent discount on a haircut and blowdry for any Mokena Patch reader who prints this article and brings it to the salon!

Marc Alan also sells products, including ID Bare Essentials Mineral makeup and skincare, which is the second most-sold makeup in the United States right now, according to Melyon. Melyon has also offered customers a free gift with a product purchase.

Planning ahead, Marc Alan’s Mokena location will host a fundraiser on June 28, offering spa packages to women for 10 percent off. All proceeds that day will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Melyon recommended people come see Marc Salon for themselves, because of its urban, high-tech appearance.

“People have told me that the facility looks like one they’d see in downtown Chicago,” Melyon said.

The spa is separate from the salon, so that it’s a quiet and relaxing environment, and the salon is very modern.

Besides offering so many services under one roof, Melyon said the salon and spa stands out from others because of the customer service.

“I was really blessed to find a great staff that is so committed to making sure the clients feel pampered,” Melyon said. “Also, we are constantly researching the most current hair, makeup and skin services so they are as up to date as possible.”
