The Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center will also be hosting the Showcase of Art show this weekend. The yearly show highlights the work of youth, teen and adult students in various park district classes. A "Meet the Artists" Gallery Opening will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Also at The Oaks, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce will also hold a Business Before Hours catered by EggCetera Cafe and sponsored by the park district at 8 a.m. Saturday, holding the ribbon cutting they weren't able to do when The Oaks first opened.
Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce Community Expo and Health Fair will begin.
The yearly, free event will bring together 70 exhibitors, a record for the showcase of Mokena businesses and health experts. A face painter will be on hand for the kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and local historian Matt Galik will be signing his recently published book of Mokena history, Mokena: Images of America.

The theme is Hollywood and everyone will enter Lincoln-Way East High School on a red carpet filled with "paparazzi" snapping shots of local Girl Scouts and their dads. The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m.
From 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, the Mokena VFW will host a fundraiser for John Conrath, a Marine veteran who has been unable to work due to nerve damage following hip replacement surgery. The event costs $20 with a cash bar.
