Do's and Don'ts of Taking a Girl Out
A young Mokena man refused to press charges but filed a report nonetheless against an angry father who, according to the police, slapped him across the face. According to the report, the father was upset that the young man had left his daughter alone passed out in his car all night and then did not bring her home until 11 a.m.
Mitchell D. Cunningham, 17, of the 21000 block of Tall Grass Drive in Mokena was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol. Police said they received a description of a white Hummer driving recklessly over a lawn in the 11500 block of Abbey Road around 5 a.m. and caught up with the driver as he went running into his home. Cunningham later failed a Breathalyzer, according to the report. The property owner whose lawn was used as a detour refused to press charges for criminal damage.
SATURDAY, APRIL 14
Mitchell V. Lawrence, 18, of the 19800 block of Lakeview Way in Mokena was charged with burglary to motor vehicle, criminal trespass to motor vehicle and illegal consumption of alcohol. Police said Lawrence admitted to stealing sunglasses and cigarettes from unlocked cars in the 11100 block of Daniel Trail around 4 a.m. after one of his victims caught him and called 911.
FRIDAY, APRIL 13
Municipal Battery Ticket
Shana S. Garbutt, 24, of the 0-100 block of Arbor Trail in Park Forest was ticketed for battery. A woman told police that she and Garbutt were arguing in parallel cars at a stop light at 191st Street and LaGrange Road around 9 p.m. when Garbutt spit in her face. According to the report, the two had been fighting about missing the green light.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11
More Minor Consumption
Brittany J. Bysina, 20, of the 12300 block of Donegal Lane in New Lenox was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol, obstructing identification and speeding. Police said they smelled alcohol on Bysina’s breath after stopping her car near Wolf and LaPorte roads around 11 p.m. for speeding. According to the report, she handed an officer a fake driver’s license showing a older birthday.
A passenger, Benjamin O. Best, 20, of the 22900 block of Folkestone Way in Frankfort, was also charged with illegal consumption of alcohol.
MONDAY, APRIL 9
DUI Fender Bender
Kurt M. Bell, 42, of the 11600 block of Central Park Avenue in Chicago was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid accident and issued traffic citations. Police said Bell rear-ended another car near 191st Street and LaGrange Road around 7 p.m. and then failed certain field sobriety tests while refusing to take others. He also refused to take a Breathalyzer, according to the report.
