Restaurant Burglarized

About $335 in cash and coins was reported stolen from a restaurant in the 19700 block of Mokena Street between 8 p.m. Feb. 4 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 5. Judging by the damage, police believe someone pried open several doors and grabbed money out of a front register and various drawers in the office.

FRIDAY, FEB. 3

Semi Hit and Run

A semi-truck may have caused structural and electrical damage after clipping a light pole in the 1600 block of Francis Road around 9:45 a.m. A witness told police a blue truck with a soft trailer, possibly made of canvas, hit the pole in a parking lot while pulling a U-turn and did not stop. The same person took down the truck’s license plate but was unsure which state it belonged to. One company that possibly owns the truck told police none of their drivers were in the Mokena area on Feb. 3.

Craig T. Matuszak, 45, of the 8500 block of Bangor Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with possession of cannabis, operation of uninsured motor vehicle, driving on a suspended driver’s license, driving without lights and improper lane use. Police said they stopped Matuszak’s car near 195th Street and LaGrange Road around 1 a.m. for drifting between lanes without taillights and saw a bag of marijuana on the driver’s seat in plain view.

THURSDAY, JAN. 26

Illegal Transportation

Police said they stopped Lehr in 10700 block of 191st Street around 1 a.m. for driving 61 in a 45 mph zone and found open cans of beer on the passenger floor. Lehr admitted to drinking them, but showed no signs of “obvious” intoxication, according to the report.
