Unlawful Use of Weapon and Drug Possession

Michael Preston, 30, of the 16900 block of Songbird Circle in Orland Park, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon after officers found a Smith & Wesson Airweight .38 revolver in his coat pocket, police said. Police approached Preston after receiving complaints of a trespasser who was banging on the door of a house in the 11700 block of West 193rd Street. Preston resisted officers several times, and once he was handcuffed, they searched him and found the gun. Preston told police it belonged to a friend of his who was a police officer in Blue Island and he had put it in his coat pocket to take into his house and had forgotten about it. Preston was also charged with possession of cannabis after police found a green leafy substance in his car, possession of drug equipment and criminal trespass to property. Preston's companion, Melissa A. Corcoran, 25, of the 9700 block of Lawndale in Evergreen Park, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property and with possession of hypodermic needles after police found needles in her purse. Corcoran told police they were for heroin, according to the report.

Gone with the Schwinn

A Mokena man who locked up his red Schwinn bicycle at the downtown Metra station at 5 a.m. told police the bike and the lock were gone when he returned around 6:15 that night.

monday, jan. 17

Suspected DUI on 191st

Amanda L. Henning, of the 11600 block of Seminole Court, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and disobeying a stoplight. According to reports, Henning was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of 191st Street and ran a red light at the La Grange intersection when police spotted her. Henning was going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when police stopped her, according to the report.
