Police: Man Paid for $5,000 in Electronics with Phony Check
A man bought $5,000 in merchandise from the Little Guys in Mokena with a fake cashier's check, police said.
A man bought more than $5,000 in electronics from the Little Guys in Mokena with a cashier's check that was later found to be fraudulent, police said.
According to reports, the owner told police a man came in to the store with a woman a few weeks ago to buy a 41-inch black gloss credenza, two Samsung Blu-Ray players and two 50-inch titanium plasma 3D televisions. He told employees he would be back in a few days to pay for and pick up the merchandise.
The man returned in a black SUV on Feb. 5 and paid for the electronics with a cashier's check that was found to be fraudulent a few weeks later.
According to reports, the man gave the store clerk an address in Highland, Ind. He is described as six feet tall and 35 to 40 years old.
