Two hooded, gloved men made off with $461 in cash after robbing the Speedway station at 19855 S. LaGrange Road early Monday morning, Mokena Police said.

According to police reports, two white men wearing hooded jackets and gloves entered the LaGrange Road gas station at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, and waited at the counter for service.

"Give me all the money in the drawer and in the lottery machine or I'll end you," one of the robbers told the clerk who arrived to help them.

A customer who walked in the store mid-robbery before leaving to call 911 later told police he saw the men get into a blue or gray four-door Buick, possibly a Le Sabre. The customer told police he followed the car for a short distance before losing the men by the townhomes on Lakeview Way.

From security footage, officers described the men as both about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and about 160 to 180 pounds. One man wore a black, hooded jacket, black jeans, black shoes with white on the bottom and black-and-purple gloves. The other was wearing a similar hooded jacket, black jeans, brown shoes, black-and-neon yellow gloves and sunglasses.

The customer who saw them get in the car said the men appeared to be about 28 years old, police said. The clerk described the hooded men as possibly 40 to 50.

The men made off with $461 from the register, but the lottery machine had no drawer to open, the clerk did not have any way to open the safe and the robbers did not want rolls of coins.
