UPDATED: 1:51 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22
An 18-year-old man with autism is still missing after Tinley Park Police who was last seen Friday, Dec. 21, in the 7700 block of Marquette Drive, according to a Village of Tinley Park news alert.
The teen's name is Spiro Chionis, and he is 6 feet, with black hair. He is wearing a black jacket, red sweater and black pants, the alert stated. He is non-verbal but is not violent, the release continued.
Police have been seen searching around the area of 175th Street and 80th Avenue, and a helicopter is being used to help find Spiro.
He was last seen in the area of 177th Street and Harlem Avenue, a friend of the family told Patch. The search is now moving to the Oak Park Avenue area, the friend added.
Residents are encouraged to help with the search to find Spiro. There is no central location for volunteers to meet, but they can head to the areas he has been seen, the family friend said.
Call 911 if you have seen Spiro or have any information concerning his whereabouts.

Me and my daughter went out looking. This was our route. I went up and down the industrial area on 175th near the health club, to Harlem, to 183rd, down Oak Park Ave, down the street along the tracks to Harlem and back to 175th and went by the 80th ave train station and a few side streets along the way. I'm sorry to say I did not see him anywhere.

God this and God that, no it wasn't God who found the kid, it was the valiant efforts of all the people involved. And "praying" is no substitute for actually going out and looking for him. Hypocrites.

Listen John, My husband was also one of the TP Warriors out looking for this boy. And we are guided by the faith of God. Our God's not Dead, he is surely alive. And he helped find Spiro. Hey John, were you out there in the cold weather looking for him? Just wondering. Merry Christmas!

John; My daughter amd I did both. Maybe there were a lot of people who wanted to look for him but couldn't. I broke my hip and pelvis 3 weeks ago and if it weren't for my daughter who drove us, I couldn't go look. I believe in the power of prayer. My own recovery has been on speed dial. I work with a lot of believers and can actually feel other forces helping me. Have a nice holiday John and yes, I also believe in helping by acting.

I totally agree John....prayer is all good and well, but if you have 100 people praying, instead of actually standing up and taking action. That's 100 less people to have out there actually looking for this boy. Yes, everyone has their own circumstances as to why they may not be able to participate...but give credit where credit is due! to the people who went out and bared the cold elements to help a complete stranger! Prayer won't pick up the phone and call the police when it finds what everyone is out looking for!

Mr. McEnroe, I pray that you open yourself to the power of prayer. Wherever 2 or more are gathered you will see powerful results just like this. It is especially heartening this week, that so many did go out in the cold dark night to search for Spiro. How might you explain that in the end, not one of these individuals found him? Yet, with all the horrible things that could have befallen him, Spiro was found: far from home, safe, and sound. Coincidence? You are entitled to your opinion, but I think not. Merry Christmas!
