Represented in court by former Will County Circuit Judge Stephen White, who is on the board of education for Lincoln-Way High School District 210, Fisk was also ordered to complete an alcohol abuse program. According to the SunTimes Media, part of that program demands that he meet with select families who had lost loved ones due to drunken drivers.
Will County State's Attorney Spokesperson Chuck Pelkie said a special Appellate Court prosecutor was assigned to handle the Fisk case.
Fisk had been booked on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway.
Police found the Hall of Famer, who currently lives in Bradenton, FL., in a cornfield stupor behind the wheel of his pickup truck near Gougar and Spencer Roads. He was charged with DUI and spent the night in jail.
New Lenox police arrested retired Chicago White Sox player, Carlton Fisk, on charges of drunken driving and related violations.
Fisk's defense attorney White said his client did not realize the effect that mixing alcohol and prescription drugs would have on his ability to drive, according to a story in the Tribune story.

Well of course did, he got off easy. Btw, isn't it "pled" guilty?

Pleaded or pled will work. And I don't believe he got off any easier than any other first time offender.

What makes you think he got off easy? Seems like he got the standard sentence for first time offenders.

If this was any other white trash middle aged white man the lot of you would be bashing him left and right. Fisk didn't 'make a mistake' he chose to do something illegal that could have possibly cost someone their life.

There are thousands of drunk drivers roaming the south suburbs every weekend, lawyers, doctors, waiters, moms, dads, and so forth, not just Carlton Fisk.
Unfortunately only a handful get caught every night. La Grange Road in Orland, Downtown Tinley Park, Cicero Venue in Oak Forest, all loaded with bars and drunks.

One question I have is why is a member of Lincoln-Way board of education representing a dui case. I know he is a former judge but really I don't know if it is a good idea to have someone who is involved in education of our children represent a dui case. Our schools have a program that tries to keep our children from drinking and here we have a board of education member in the news showing how he is working to get people off. Not Right

School board members do not get paid so they need to keep their "day jobs". If his day job is representing defendants as an attorney, this is what he has to do. Besides, a DUI defendant has the right to an attorney.

It's hard for me to look at a photo of Carlton Fisk like this ... makes me sad. He was such a fantastic baseball player. I hope he straightens out his life.

Here we all go again with the "He got off easy" & silly comments. He got what any 1st time offender would get but still not good enough. What did anyone want for him to get a harder sentence because of who he is? He got what was fair. And about being on the board for LW, prior to this there was no reason for him not to be but now that he has a DUI that might change. Im sure they waited to see if he was guilty.

I never suggested Fisk got off easy. I just commented that it's sad to see him looking like this ... I don't want to remember Fisk in his jail jumpsuit. I want to remember him as a catcher/warrior. I know that's unrealistic. He's human, after all.

Kept his license--unlike most first time offenders unless they have big money and the representation it can buy--Illinois is not known as the most corrupt state without reasons--money and clout always trump justice--vodka in the truck--middle of the cornfield--who is kidding who?

Steve White is a tool. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he got his law degree from Lewis University--whose law school doesn't even exist anymore because it was a such a joke. White probably charged a huge retainer and got Fisk the same result anybody else would have got. White is one of the worst D210 board members there is. He keeps the seat warm but doesn't contribute anything.
