Sound the Breakfast Bell, Fourth of July Meal Set for Local Veterans
Mokena Mayor Joe Werner and the Mokena Mayors' Charitable Foundation will host a veterans; breakfast at St. John's Annex from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4. The event is free to all veterans and veterans' family members.
Calling all veterans and veterans' family members! Mayor Joe Werner and the Mokena Mayors' Charitable Foundation are throwing a breakfast in your honor.
“July Fourth is a big for me,” Werner said. “It reminds me, I'm always conscious, that all these people risked their lives for our freedom. I guess we just kind of lose track of that, so I like using the Fourth of July as an opportunity to put a little extra effort into thanking our veterans."
This year marks the third hosted by Werner; the breakfast will immediately proceed the Mokena Chamber of Commerce's Fourth of July parade. Werner invites all veterans who attend the event to ride along in the parade in vintage military vehicles.
The event is free to all military veterans and their family, while non-military guests will pay a $5 fee to attend the breakfast. The event is sponsored by Pipefitters Local #597 U.A.
