Start-to-Finish: Video Slideshow of In-Ground Pool Construction
What started out as a dirty hole in the ground is now a vacation destination. Take one last look here at the process of building a 20x44 in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox.
In late April, the Aqua Pools team arrived at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox with heavy-duty equipment and charge: to build a 20x44 in-ground pool for the homeowners.
The guys on the crew started by digging a big hole. Six weeks later, the Hufnagls are enjoying a vacation destination in their back yard. No one is more excited than 8-year-old Autumn Hufnagl.
"She loved it," said her father, Andy, of the moment she plunged into the water for the first time. "She loves being able to wake up and jump in her pool and have her friends over and enjoy the summer time.
"Her first time—I believe she went in off the slide here."
To mark the occasion, the Hufnagls let Autumn leave her handprints in the concrete on the side of the pool. The whole family is looking forward to sharing the experience of pool fun for years to come.
"It will be great memories," Andy Hufnagl said. "We actually have my daughter's handprint in some of the concrete on the other side. We put her name and the date in there so she can grow up looking at that.
"And, if she has brothers and sisters in the future, they'll be able to see that as well. We're going to use this every year. We hope to have some traditional family parties throughout the summer and, hopefully, build on that and have lots of good times."

This family proboly works very hard for the money . And it must be nice to have a pool! Good for them and thanks to people in the private sector like them who spend their money with other private sector business. That is what makes the world go round!

In 1988 I gave my family a choice. Small cottage in southwest Michigan or 16X36 in-ground pool. They chose in-ground pool. The cost was $13,000 from Caribbean Pools. It has been a wonderful investment. Pools can come in all shapes and sizes and don"t have to cost $50,000.
