Suspect in Frankfort Square Kidnapping in Custody

One suspect allegedly involved in the March 4 kidnapping by gunpoint of an elderly woman in Frankfort Square turned himself in on Thursday, Sun-Times Media reports.

Will County Sheriff's police Thursday took into custody one of three men who allegedly kidnapped an elderly Frankfort Square woman by gunpoint on March 4, Sun-Times Media reports.

A $1 million bail was set for Chavell Anderson, 21, Hazel Crest, who was booked into Will County Jail just after 5 p.m. Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in Will County Court on Friday.

Will County Sheriff's Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas told Sun-Times Media reporters that the other two—Dorian Yamini, 23, and Aaron Anderson, 20—remain at large. All three face charges of armed robbery.

The three were identified through a surveillance video that surfaced of three men suspected of kidnapping the 69-year-old Frankfort Square woman at gunpoint outside her Chestnut Court home. The three were caught on camera at a Walmart in Crestwood.

The woman was abducted about 10 p.m. by three men who allegedly ordered her at gunpoint into the backseat of a car and then drove around trying to use her ATM card. The victim was released that night unharmed in Country Club Hills.

The Sherrifs department has a limited budget. Ask your county board members to cut spending in the landuse depaertment. They have a bunch of inspectors sitting around with no new houses to inspect so they are creating jobs by harrassing home and business owners. They can cut a couple of these jobs and hire a few more cops.

All of you bleeding heart liberals out there that cry about racial profiling - well, that's exactly what these three clowns did when they picked their victim. Ron, if you've anointed yourself as the online spelling and grammar checker then please review your own posts before clicking on the "Submit" button. Good grammar, punctuation and proper spelling does not include exclamation points after every sentence. Also, I do believe you were trying to say "practice grammar SO the rest OF us can understand". And no, I won't buy the story that you misspelled and misused proper guide lines to make a point. Ha! LOL.

Ron, In addition to the other errors that were pointed out in your post, it's "what YOU'RE trying to say". If you're going to be the on line grammar police, you might want to make sure you don't have any errors in your post.

The square is a rough hood. I got jumped there in broad daylight just buying a slurpie. The scabiest section is by the golf course. Some real low-lifes hang out there. I'm getting out of here and moving back to FordCity where I felt safe.

I've lived in Frankfort Square for 14 years and no it is not a bad area. Very little crime and good school districts. However, I do know working for the criminal justice system that the Will County SHeriff's Police do not have enough police staffed and the wait time for an emergency response to this area can be lengthy depending on where the nearest WCSP officer is coming from. I do agree that more officers should be patrolling this area. Just like in Tinley Park off 191st by Target, you have I-80 and I-57 and Harlem all close to the Frankfort Square area. It's a pretty easy targetted area for crime as it's pretty accessible to flee quickly. I'm just glad one had the decency to turn himself him. Kuddos to him for taking responsiblity for the crime.

Frankfort Square is a fine community with an Federally award winning Park District and elite school system. It was originally built in the 1970's and is called frankfort square because it originally was surrounded by major streets such as Route 30, Harlem Avenue, 191st, and roughly 80th avenue.

It's long been considered a safe community to raise a family. However, since the town of Matteson expanded eastward to butt up against the subdivision of Georgetown, and the Old Plank Trail completed to connect towns like Park Forest, crime and burglaries have gone up..

Well put Erik - Police can't be everywhere all the time. The residents have to keep their eyes out for shady lookin dudes in their neighborhood. Shouldn't be too hard to figure that out in Frankfort. The photos of these thugs makes it pretty clear they don't live in town.

@ Dale Evans, really ?? Frankfort Square is a bad area like the "hood". WOW. You may live in a more elite area of Frankfort and have a poor streotype for the middle class, but these schools are award winning schools and taxes are not cheap in Frankfort or Frankfort Square, which keeps the crime lower as well. The "hood" people can't afford to live in Frankfort Square, but again it is easily accesible to I-80 and I-57 which makes it easy for others to come to the are to commit crimes. The Frankfort Square area gets a bad rap because it is an unincorporated area of Frankfort, which is the Will County SHeriff's Police patrol it and not the Frankfort township police. It may not be the most "ritzy" area of Frankfort but the townhome where the 69 year olf was abducted is a 1/2 mile from the 7/11 store you are referring to and 1/2 mile from million dollar homes. It's the snooty part of Frankfort people I do NOT like. Especially the judgemental comments from people like you Dale Evans. I am in the law enforcement field of Will County and work on Joliet and apparently you have never seen the "HOOD"!!

The hood approacheth from the east. It's a matter of time. The main thing we all need to fight is low income housing in any shape or form. I don't know a lot about the fines that towns can incur for rejecting low income housing, but whatever the fine is, I'll pay my share, because the drop in property values that will follow the encroachment from Matteson/Homewood-Flossmoor, Dolton, Chicago Heights, Country Club hills, etc. will dwarf what the fine will be.

I have lived in the Square (and down the street from the scene) for quite a few years now, and compared to other areas that I have lived in, this is the best. The school district has been the best for my son.

We usually do look out for each other, and often in the summer, many of the neighbors would have been outside at that time. However, with the cold weather, the criminals got what they wanted. Had it been summer, there is no way this would have happened.

I have this woman in my thoughts and I hope that she returns back home and still feels safe.

If I were a criminal and wanted to rob a house or an individual, it certainly would not be in a low income area. Be aware.

It really is an important issue. The schools will get hit first, since school boundaries encompass larger swaths of good and bad neighborhoods, you can bet undesirable will enter the schools. Gang activity goes up. Test scores go down. Behavioral problems and suspensions go up. Property values go down. As I said before, try to minimize the availability of low income housing, and that is your best avenue to at least slow the impending crawl.

Feds can't force low income housing unless local government lets them in the door by accepting government funding or other such handouts. Housing development in The Square is controlled by Will County Government. If the county board doesn't capitulate by accepting federal funds, say for certain types of housing or even some road work projects, then the door stays closed.

There are a few pockets of "affordable" housing that already exist in Frankfort Square and there really isn't much control, other than high property taxes, that can be exerted by local government. The only way to maintain stability is not to panic when the new neighbors move in and stay on top of the sheriff's department when trouble erupts.

Summit Hill school district is blessed/cursed with sub $100,000 condos and million-dollar plus estates. Even though credit is tight, it does help control neighborhood stability.

Is this the same Will County Board Member who's son was involved in an attempted murder and got off? The same son who was arrested for domestic battery and got off again? The same son who was handed a job in our community? Hmm not sure how much help he would be since he all ready owes so many favors. Just saying.

@ K.B.C., yes, same board member. I think our board members need to hear our concerns and quite honestly I wish several of the board members were not as complacent and that we had term limits or that the people really knew how little some of them do and they would not be re-elected. Some are milking the job for health insurance and do very little in my opinion. I was just encouraging local voices to raise a concern to Moustis and to request a response is all. The board needs to know people are evaluating them on their action or lack of.
