For this Showdown, I checked out the tacos at Fajitas Mexican Restaurant since it's the new Mexican restaurant in Frankfort. I ordered the two tacos lunch special, which were served with rice and a drink (chips and salsa came complimentary before the meal). Overall, the steak tacos I ordered were pretty good, served piping hot in soft flour tortillas. The steak in one taco had a nice taste to it--tender with a hint of spicing--but the meat in the other one had an aftertaste that made me think it had been sitting in a plastic container in the fridge for too long before it was cooked. That was a shame because it did put a damper on an otherwise good dish. I would still give Fajitas a second chance, though.

My favorite is El Burrito Loco. I like them best "to go" when they are wrapped in foil and the cheese gets all melty.

I can't speak to their burgers (why would Patch ask about hamburgers when reviewing Mexican food?), but I do say Buenas Nachos is by far the best value when it comes to Mexican food in the Mokena/Frankfort/New Lenox area, there is a very good reason for my opinion: I grew up & lived in Mexico City the first 13 years of my life. So, I tend to be pretty picky about good Mexican food. Sure I'll drop by the fast-food Mexican joints every once in a while when I'm in a super hurry or splurge at a really high-end 'Restaurante' where we can sip our Margaritas well into the evening, but for honest-to-goodness really good Mexican food consistently, for years I've bragged to friends and family alike that we really do have the best of both worlds right here in Frankfort: our own Buenas Nachos. They combine consistent friendliness with great food and very good prices, while you have the option of eating-in or taking it home to feed your hungry family. That word, "family", is what probably makes the biggest difference. No matter when you drop by, you can be sure one of the family members is there and will probably take your order personally to make sure everything is up to their high standards. Bravo, Buenas Nachos!!

Charleston's fish tacos are delicious! The fish is tender and the fire slaw they top the tacos with is to die for. Any chef that can so bravely spice a dish the way Charleston's does has an A in my book. If you haven't tried them yet, what are you waiting for? They are fantastic!

I'm a huge fan of La Cafe! Haven't had anything there yet I didn't like.

If you had included Orland on here, than Casa Margaritta would be my vote.

Yes, Chipotle is good, but my Mama was born in Mexico, so I have to vote for the most authentic Mexican food my family has tried. We vote for Buenas Nachos!

Hands down "El Burrito Loco".... love their tacos and much more! I always go for the beef tacos on a corn tortilla, flavorful, filling and always hot, hate cold tacos. We cater from them for birthdays and Christmas Eve. Their rice is awesome and I can't go there without getting the "Corn in a cup" !

I work near the Fajitas in Tinley Park and sample their fare quite often, but I have to say Buenas Nachos is the best around... hands down! It is a shame they are closed on Sunday, because now I'm really craving a steak taco dinner with their delicious rice and beans... YUM!

Best tacos by far are at Buenos Nachos. I've had tacos at most of the other places and none come close. Piled high with steak, always hot, great service....go to Buenos Nachos!

Buenos Nachos hands down. They are the best. We've been going there ever since they opened, and never a bad meal. The cooking is authentic, the prices are reasonable, and in my opinion the food is better than the high end places. No frills, just excellent food
