More than two dozen students, parents and faculty members from Lincoln-Way North High School shaved their heads Friday, Feb. 24, to raise money for childhood cancer research for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

As of Friday evening, the L-W North event had raised about $12,000 for the group that funds childhood cancer research grants said Coley O'Connell, a North teacher who is also the event's sponsor. Their goal is to raise $20,000.

For more information about their efforts, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and how you can support the Lincoln-Way North effort, visit the event's website.

Wonderful! My 9-yr old daughter will be shaving hers on March 23 at Atrium Point/Gattos. She has already raised close to $1,000.

@Russ - we will be cutting close to 12 inches off before she shaves it and donating it.

A great cause and speaks volumes for the courage of the donors.I know a girl that annually donates about 12 inches of her hair.Kudos to your daughter and all that are willing to give up their vanity to help their neighbors.
