What's Your Farmer's Market Favorite So Far?
Fresh fruits, vegetables and meats, spending time with friends or just supporting local businesses. What made the Mokena Farmer's Market worthwhile for you?
It's the first day of the Mokena Farmer's Market and Patch wants to know what made the market special for you.
Did you get up early to get the freshest veggies and meats in town? Maybe you grabbed your friends and hit the market as part of a day of local shopping and hanging out, or was it the live music that pulled you in and kept you tapping your toes as you perused the vendors wares.
Whatever had you heading to the market and sticking around to find the best deals, let us know in the comments below.
Also, If you took a photo or two while you were shopping, submit one (or a few of them) above. Just make sure to caption your photo(s) so everyone knows what's happening!

Your grammer needs correcting - should read worthwhile. NOT worth wild. What does that mean?

Hi Cheril, thanks for the catch. Sometimes things slip through the cracks, but I've corrected it. Thanks for the helpful comment. Have a good one!

El Gringo Loco is a hit at my shop this morning. They actually set up WAY early (I left for work at 7 and they were already there). I left work came out bought 3 jars (the sweet apple harvest is the shops favorite) Hopefully I can get away every week and start attending more when more vendors sign on. It is always good to have a good show of support for our downtown events, even though not all of the businesses there are going to be local.

El Gringo Loco is our favorite as well. We also bought a plant (gentleman was great, very informative) some veggies and a yummy banana bread. Looking forward to this becoming a big event.

The Mokena Market was well attended considering, the weather was 15 degrees below normal. Everyone was outgoing and helpful. Tha Mayor and most of the trustees were there, and from talking to the vendors it should be a huge sucess.
Tony ,char and Barb did a fine job. Next week should be even better with music and more vendors.

I was happy to see my favorite produce guy! Bought some good stuff and I am looking forward to next week. Good setup, great start!! Would love to see Italian ice, maybe tacos or hotdogs! With some seating so we could have lunch and visit with friends.

I bought a 2 or 3 produce items (tastier than the grocery stores), a soup mix (it was great - even my pickiest ate it up!), some dip mix, a cinnamon bun and a big red velvet cupcake (OMG!), and some doggie bakery items. I NEVER came home with this much when it was the other market. It was all under $20 total, too! Mokena Market, keep up the good work - If all of your future Saturday's are just like this first one, you should be a huge success!

We are truly witnessing the beginning of a new tradition in Mokena. Although we've had a weekly outdoor market for some time now, the Mokena Downtown Merchants Market exudes a more quaint, friendly and inviting atmosphere. All things considered, including the weather, it was a fantastic opening day. The MDMA has some terrific plans for the upcoming weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing the Market evolve into a hometown event we'll continue to support and be proud of. Trustee Don.
