The LWSRF was formed in 2008 and was created to service the LWSRA which provides over 200 social and recreational opportunities a year for individuals with special needs in Mokena, Frankfort, New Lenox, Peotone, Manhattan, and beyond. The LWSRA just received a grant of $2.5 million from the Department of Natural Resources to build a recreation facility at Heather Glen Park in New Lenox off of Laraway Road. They’re current goal is to raise over $700,000 to help fund this project.
Tickets purchased the day of the event are for a slightly higher fee of $10 per adult and $7 per child. Last year's Bunny Breakfast saw over 200 people in attendance and LWSRA recommends that tickets be purchased in advance.
