Senator Hutchinson Addresses Special Election
The Following is a Statement from State Senator Toi Hutchinson on the Special Election to Replace Congressman Jackson:
I want to thank Congressman Jackson for his past service.
As a long-time resident of the second Congressional District, where my husband and I have raised our three children, I believe we deserve a strong leader in Congress who will protect Social Security and Medicare and fight to bring new jobs.
Over the coming days, I’ll be speaking with my family, neighbors and community leaders, whom I’ve known and worked with for years, to explore a campaign for Congress.
In the State Senate, I’ve fought for our schools and to make our communities safer by preventing sexual assault. And in Springfield, I’ve always led by example, cutting my own pay and benefits.
I’ll have more to say in the coming days. I wish our families a happy Thanksgiving and pray for those who are fighting for our country abroad and can not celebrate at home.

Senator Toi Hutchinson has Integrity! Integrity is the one thing that no man can take from you. Anyone, rich, poor, old, young, anyone of any faith, can honor their personal choice to adhere to their values no matter what circumstances arise. Integrity is having the ability to respect someone else's rights even if your moral compass is in diametric opposition to someone's actions, choices, beliefs, etc. Integrity is having the conviction to be fair-minded. Integrity is honoring the correct choice in a system (be it governmental or humanitarian) even under duress or even if there's the temptation of an easier, faster, or more lucrative choice. I would definitely vote to Senator Hutchinson if she decided to run for congresswoman and support her in any endeavor she pursues.
