Heartland Service Dogs is having a puppy and pizza party fundraiser at Jenny’s Steak House in Mokena on December 22, from 3pm to 5pm. Everyone is invited to come out and see their new litter of future service dogs, enjoy plenty of pizza and pasta, and learn more about their organization. The cost of the event is $10 for adults and $6 for kids under 10. Pop and adult beverages are available for an additional charge.  

With a new litter of 10 Labradoodle/Golden Retriever puppies, proceeds from the pizza party will help with the cost of food, veterinary care, training harnesses, and the service dog vests.  The pups will be close to 6 weeks old on December 22, and guests will be able to cuddle with the pups, ranging in color from black to golden. Guests who bring in a new puppy toy will be entered to win one of the door prizes, such as a handmade glass ornament or a raffle basket. 

Heartland Service Dogs is a Chicagoland based not for profit organization with its main office in Mokena.  Their mission is to provide specially trained dogs for adults and children with mobility and hearing impairments. The new pups have several relatives that have naturally ‘alerted’ to people with low blood sugar, and the group has high hopes that some of the litter could be trained to assist someone with diabetes.
