Students Urged to Never Text and Drive at Governors State Event

Governors State University and AT&T are holding an event Wednesday where students will be asked to take a pledge as part of the "It Can Wait" campaign against texting and driving.

The rise of smartphones, social media and other forms of quick communication with words has given rise to a new hazard: people who believe they can text and drive at the same time.

No one is good at it and it continues to cause accidents.

With that in mind AT&T and Governors State University are hosting an event 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hall of Governors, 1 University Parkway, as part of the It Can Wait Campaign. Students and attendees will be asked to pledge never to text and drive again.
