Bomb-Sniffing Dogs Entertain Mokena Pinewood Derby

Cub Scouts Pack 39 brought Metra Transportation Security Administration K-9 Team to demonstrate how bomb-sniffing dogs protect airports, train stations and bus stations.

On March 21, Mokena Cub Scouts Pack 39, passed out trophies to the winners of the Pinewood Derby.

The Pinewood Derby is a racing event where the Cub Scouts, with the help of parents, build their own cars or trucks from kits. Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelo scouts compete within their own group in the gravity-powered race.

Pack 39 also invited Metra Transportation Security Administration (TSA) K-9 Team to . Sergeant John Geraty, Officer Raul Arevalo and Officer Lionel Major brought in TSA bomb sniffing dogs Rita and Igor to demonstrate how these dogs protect our airports, train stations and bus stations.

Rita, a Labrador Retriever, and Igor, a Yellow Lab, have been working for Metra TSA for 5 years.  Each is going on 6 years old and each was named after a fallen 9/11 victim.
