Christmas Worship Schedules at Mokena Churches

To help you fit church into your busy Christmas schedule, here is a list of special services offered in Mokena during the upcoming holidays.

Most churches provide special services during the holidays for avid church goers and Christmas-only attendees alike. These special service schedules can conveniently work around your other holiday plans so that you make time for both this season.

  • St. Mary Catholic Church has several Christmas Eve masses, held at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Christmas Day masses, beginning at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon. There is also a special mass on New Year's Eve at 5 p.m. and New Year's Day at 7:30 a.m. 
  • Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church also offers several Christmas services. On Christmas Eve, a family worship begins at 6 p.m. and a candlelight worship begins at 11 p.m. On Christmas Day, a 10 a.m. service will be held. There is also a New Year's Eve service at 7 p.m. 
  • Marley Community Church, a ministry of American Baptist Churches, is holding two candlelight services on Christmas Eve. One begins at 7 p.m. and the other at 11 p.m.
  • Missio Dei, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, is offering a Christmas Eve worship service from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Mokena Elementary School, where their weekly worship services are always held. On Dec. 24 and 26, the church will be taking Advent offerings at each of their worship services, with proceeds going toward a number of ministries their church supports.
  • is holding its Christmas service celebration on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.
  • St. John's United Church of Christ is holding Christmas Eve services at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
  • Grace Fellowship Church, a non-denominational church, is holding Christmas Eve services at 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. 
  • Parker Road Bible Church, another non-denominational church, is holding a Christmas candlelight service from 7 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 23, featuring classic Christmas hymns, poetry, readings and a candle lighting. According to Karolyn Koval, office secretary and communications director, Parker Road is also featuring various children's Christmas presentations during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday services all this month.
  • Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Orland Park will hold a Christmas Eve service from 6 to 7 p.m. On Christmas Day, Orthros will be held at 8:30 a.m. and the Divine Liturgy will be at 9:30 a.m.
