Extreme Cold Again: Mokena and Nearby Schools Closed Monday and Tuesday

We are about to face sub-zero temperatures and severe wind chills again.

Mokena is once again facing extremely low temperatures leading to school closures.

The National Weather Service has a wind chill warning on the area set from 3 a.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills expected to be between 30 and 45 degrees below zero.

The extreme cold will follow snowfall and strong winds Sunday night that could leave about another inch of snow on the ground, with winds gusting up to 45 mph.
