In Memory of Lauren: Community Asked to Display Blue Ribbons

Blue ribbons seen tied to trees around town are in honor of a 17-year-old who died last week.

The Mokena community is launching a blue ribbon celebration in remembrance of Lauren Carollo.

Carollo, 17, died suddenly last week after being struck by a train. The manner of death is still under investigation.

Community members ask that residents display blue ribbons in her memory.

"Please change your Facebook profile picture, wear a blue ribbon on your lapel, tie a ribbon on your trees, or display in your home, office or classroom in some way," wrote organizer Raeann Racine.
