L-Way Area Churches Pack Meals for Feed My Starving Children

The Lincolnway Area Mobile Pack team is gathering in various shifts on Aug. 9-10 to pack food for Feed My Starving Children.

A group of churches in the Lincoln-Way communities are participating in the Lincolnway Area Mobile Pack event to benefit the non-profit organization, Feed My Starving Children. Packing is planned for Aug. 9-10 at Lincoln-Way West High School, 21701 Gougar Road, New Lenox. Set-up begins at 8:30 a.m.

LAMP teams working on major fundraising include New Lenox's New Life Church, Peace Lutheran Church and  Lincolnway Christian Church along with Mokena's Marley Community Church.

The churches listed are not the only ones actively promoting 2013 LAMP. Numerous congregations throughout the Lincoln-Way communities are holding church concerts, spreading the work among the membership and encouraging financial support and participation.

Last year packing groups came from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frankfort, Hickory Creek Community Church in Frankfort, Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210, Liberty Junior High School in New Lenox and more. Organizers are looking for 1,000 packers throughout the two-day event.

In 2012 LAMP packed 139,562 meals to feed 382 children. They raised $40,000 to support the effort. The goal for the 2013 LAMP event is to "purchase and pack 272,160 meals using gifts of $59,875," according to a press release.
