Mokena's Christmas Parade on Front Street Attracts a Crowd

Mokena residents came out to ring in the Christmas Season with the annual Christmas Parade on Front Street.

As part of the Mokena Christmas Fest, the community and its leaders came out Nov. 17 to ring in the Christmas season at the Mokena Christmas Parade.

Kids and parents lined the street in an evening celebration along Front Street. A parade of floats sponsored by local businesses, church groups, organizations, the Mokena Fire Protection District and, of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

This quaint celebration has been a Mokena tradition for more than 20  years. It was capped by a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Front Street Train Station. Mayor Joe Warner not only served as emcee, he joined in the Christmas carrols.
