Mokena School Closures, Weather Updates and Winter Tips
The National Weather Service is predicting the lowest temperatures in 20 years Monday and Tuesday. Be ready for it with some helpful information.
Mokena is going into a deep freeze.
The National Weather Service is predicting a high of -16 degrees on Monday, with wind chills between -40 and -50 degrees. Tuesday isn’t looking much better with a high of 0 degrees and 15 mph winds.
As a result, local schools announced closures.

All Lincoln-Way 210 schools will be closed and all scheduled extra curricular activities will be cancelled on Monday, according to LWay210 Superintendent R. Scott Tingley.
Mokena 159 and Summit Hill 161 schools are also closed on Monday.

The following schools also will be cancelled on Monday:
- Immanuel Lutheran Preschool
- Noonan Elementary Academy
- St. Mary School
- Rasmussen College
- Mokena Montessori
The Mokena Community Park District cancelled the following programs:
- Preschool
- All By Myself
- Play School
- Young Artists
- Karate
- Youth basketball practices
The Oaks Fitness Center will be open during normal hours Monday. The Mokena Public Library is closed Monday.
