Mokena Woman Slapped With Lawsuit Alleging Man Fell While Stringing Christmas Lights

The man filing the lawsuit claims he fell off a ladder.

A Mokena woman was hit with a lawsuit brought by a man claiming he fell off a ladder while he was hanging up her Christmas lights.

Putnam resident Steven Oster filed the lawsuit in Will County court. Oster is representing himself in the legal action.

In his lawsuit, Oster said he was asked to hang Christmas lights on the Mokena home of Kimberly Haug. He claims he fell off a ladder while doing the job.

"The blacktop driveway (of Haug's home) had pulled away from the cement slab in the garage leaving a wide gab in between and a leg of the ladder fell in the hole propelling (Oster) to the ground," the lawsuit said.

Oster claims Haug "allowed and permitted uneven pavement to exist on the driveway" and that she "failed to warn" him about it.

Oster wants at least $50,000, the lawsuit said.
