Names in the News: Owner of Beloved Pizza Place Breaks News of Closing

Much to the dismay of loyal Tony's Villa Rosa customers, Mauro DiSabato and his family made headlines this week with news of shutting down their Mokena location.

Mauro DiSabato, owner of Tony's Villa Rosa Pizza, is as disappointed as his customers that the Mokena location has closed. The pizza place was forced to shut down due to what he called 'unfair business practices' by Great Lakes Bank in Mokena, DiSabato told customers. “They threw me out of business, basically,” DiSabato told Patch. Residents are incensed at the closing, calling it a "shame" and a loss to the community and a struggling Front Street. Despite outreach by village trustees and other community members, the bank would not reconsider the terms of a new lease for Villa Rosa. DiSabato said he is looking for a new Mokena spot, and will offer free delivery to Mokena residents, from their Frankfort location.
