Nearly Famous Open Bluegrass Jam: Viewfinder
This week's photo and video gallery: the nearly famous bluegrass players of the Tribes Alehouse in Mokena.
The Nearly Famous Open Bluegrass Jam at Tribes Alehouse is a revolving door of musicians and friends, organized each Monday by Steve Haberichter of Down Home Guitars in Frankfort.
The set is loose and begins around 7 p.m. Haberichter shouts out a tune, followed by the simple three chord structure. It's all the gang needs to hear and then they're off—a stream of voices and strings undulating between foot taps, laughter and a seemingly never-ending armament of drinks.
The tunes last anywhere from one to five minutes, and the evening ends around...well, no one really knows. And that's how they like it.
