When the armed robbers stormed into the bank in 1924, Mayor George Hacker, who was also a cashier at the bank, laughed, thinking it was a prank. The robbers then showed they were serious by pressing a gun to another cashier's head. You can read the full story at "Bank Robbers Confront Mokena Officials" here.
