Farm and Barn Fest

WCCQ (98.3-FM) is presenting sponsor for the Mokena Park District's Farm and Barn Fest on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Yunker Farm, 10824 LaPorte Road.

Daytime events (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

  • Sheep Shearing Demo, Petting Zoo, Horse Rides, Horse Shoeing Demo, Raffle
  • Free Stage Entertainment, Kids Games, Face Painting, Country Line Dancing
  • Delicious Food Vendors, “School of Rock” performance

Baby Contest (10:30 a.m.)

Each division includes boys and girls. Entry fee: $5. No pageant wear.

Division I: 9-12 months; Division II: 13-23 months; Division III: 24-36 months.

New this year

Pony Hops and Giant Duel Slide

4th annual quilt show and competition (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

At the Oaks Recreation Center, 10847 LaPorte Road, Mokena. Entries compete for prizes in four categories. Quilt show visitors can vote for their favorite.

Outdoor flea market (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

At the Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center, 10847 LaPorte Road, Mokena. Buyers admitted free at 8 a.m. Vendor check-in 6:45 a.m.

Vendor fees: $20 until 4 p.m. Aug. 12; $25 day-of registrations. Cash only. Fees are non-refundable. Additional vendor fees may apply. For vendor guidelines, call 708-390-2401.

Entertainment tent (5-11 p.m.)

Featured act Suburban Cowboys perform the hottest country music with a few throwbacks to the old school era. 

Opening band is Parallel Rain. 

This tent will serve alcohol, beer and wine.

Must be 21 or over to enter the entertainment tent. Cover charge $3.

Participating sponsor is Chiro One Wellness Centers.
