'Respect Your Neighbors': EDC Promoter, Residents Get Ready for 2nd Night

Organizers for Electric Daisy Carnival extend an 'olive branch' on Facebook to people in surrounding communities who were upset with Friday night's noise. Plus, a local sound specialist will be measuring Saturday's output.

This notice was posted on Electric Daisy Carnival's Facebook page for its Chicago event:

Chicago, thank you for an unforgettable first night! We know our debut was loud, and we love the energy, but we also want to make sure both headliners AND neighbors alike appreciate the spirit of the experience! Make sure to remember and respect your neighbors when making your journey to the Chicagoland Speedway for Day 2 of EDC Chicago.

Whether that helps reduce the noise coming from the three-day event on its second night remains to be seen.

A Patch reader sent us this link where complaints can be sent to the city of Joliet: http://user.govoutreach.com/jolietil/.

Bob Crimmons, who does noise studies professionally and lives in the area, told WBBM (AM 780) he was shocked by the sound. He plans to set up noise-measuring instruments Saturday night, he told the news station.

“This is crazy," Crimmins said. "We have numerous races at the Speedway here every year. You hear a little bit of it in the background, in fact you kind of forget that it is there because it is just kind of a background noise. This dwarfs the amount of noise beyond belief,” Crimmins said.

VOLUME CHECK: Ready for the second night? Is it less noisy? The same? Louder? Tell us in the comments section. Then check in at the New Lenox Patch, Mokena Patch and Frankfort Patch Facebook Pages to see what your neighbors are hearing.
