What's in Style for Homecoming? Sequins and Bright Colors
Pink Slip Dress Boutique has the runway style for homecoming.
The football score at the homecoming game is important, but finding the right dress to wear to the dance is critical.
Pink Slip Dress Boutique in Mokena is the hotspot for afterschool shopping. While Patch interviewed Beth Amendola, store manager, about the biggest sellers for the 2013 homecoming season, the shop began to fill up with teenage girls and their mothers. They combed through the chiffons, satin-A-lines and full skirted tulle designs.
The dress ranges in price from $60 to $200, said Amendola. This year, the dominant style is a short, party-length dress. Whether is chiffon with spaghetti straps or a ruched asymmetrical design, glittery sequins are all the rage.

The colors range from a muted, elegant champagne to neon yellow and from soft baby pink to bright turquoise along with black and white. There are plenty of colors to compliment the girl's skin tone, hair and eyes, said Amendola.
For Tinley Park's Caleigh Jaskierski, a 15-year-old sophomore at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, a mint green satin party dress with spagheti straps caught her eye. With an analytical approach, she stepped in front of the full-length mirror and sized-up the second dress she'd tried on. Sweeping her long blonde hair into one hand, she got a full view of just how glamorous she would be.

"What I like about the dress is the full look and the sequins," she said.
Another PCHS student, 17-year-old Christina McGuire of Frankfort was shopping with her mom, Gina McGuire. She was attracted to a sequined, hot pink full party dress. Lockport's 14-year-old Kylie Glinski is a freshman. Homecoming would be a new experience for her. She's going with a group of friends.
With shelves and displays of costume jewelry, unique accessories, shoes and purses, "Pink Slip is a one-stop shop for homecoming," Amendola said.
What's new at Pink Slip? Ties for the guys
Just last week, the boutique got in its order of long ties that match perfectly the colors of the girls' dresses.
Pink Slip Dress Boutique, 18907 S. Wolf Road, is open from noon-8 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
