A New Business Rolls into Town

Firestone Complete Auto Care hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Mokena store, the third new outlet in the Chicago area.

The new Firestone Complete Auto Care on 191st Street is the franchise's third new store in the Chicago area and the seventh in the Midwest.

Firestone has brought 12 new jobs to town and aims to eventually fill 18 positions as business increases, said Joe Sarnosky, vice president of the company's Midwest zone, who attended a Sept. 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication.

Since opening Aug. 7, the store has been serving about 25 customers a day, he said, adding that Mokena is a hot spot in the metro market now. Firestone picked the spot at 9627 191st St. because of the growth and population base of the southwest suburbs, Sarnosky said.

Village Trustee John Mazzorana, who stood in for Mayor Joe Werner, welcomed Firestone to the community and, noting he could see Interstate 80 from the parking lot, said the shop's location should be a boon for business.

Firestone also donated a check worth $500 to the Senior Service Center of Will County. Firestone is in partnership with Meals on Wheels Association of America, a nonprofit organization that purchases, cooks and delivers food to senior citizens who need assistance.

Firestone also works with United Way and hosts a teen driver safety course, Firestone Region Manager Barney said. The two-day teen driver course is offered once a year and is open to teens between the ages of 15 and 18.

"It's all a great way to give back to the community," Barney said.

Gregory Skinner, the new store's manager, introduced all the employees at Firestone and then cut the ribbon. All the while, Firestone's mascot, Firehawk, danced around to the live DJ music.

Skinner, who grew up in Mokena and now lives in neighboring Tinley Park, said he's excited to run this location.

"We'll treat customers fairly and honestly. In return, the business will do well," Skinner said.

Firestone is open seven days a week and open until 8 p.m. on weekdays. Visit the website here or call the Mokena location at 708-478-4952.
