Bear Home Improvement Bustling with Custom Orders

Mokena's Bear Home Improvement specializes in custom windows, siding and bathroom upgrades.

When it comes to keeping her clients happy, Andrea Zeller, the owner of Bear Home Improvement, is like a mama bear protecting cubs. This Mokena mother of four combines her nurturing instincts with veteran experience in the home improvement industry.

Having launched the business in January, the showroom at 18700 S. Wolf Road next to the popular Clock Tower Plaza, Zeller said she is capitalizing on her years of marketing within the home improvement industry. Not only does she have the inside scoop on top manufacturers in windows, siding and bathroom basics, but 20-plus years of setting client appointments serves as a foundation for understanding what's hot in the industry.

Zeller is not out to compete with the major home improvement box stores such as Home Depot or Lowes; instead Bear Home Improvement is a specialty shop. She focuses all her energy on the three biggest areas of concern for homeowners looking to upgrade or redesign essential aspects of the home.

How does she zero-in on top home improvement features?

Zeller said she works solely with top manufacturers for windows, siding and bathroom installations. "I stick with the ones that I believe are the best."  At the same time, the company takes charge of project management, installation, ordering. "It's a one-stop shop." From order to installation, projects take about 4-to-4.5 weeks for completion.

"I have a passion for the home improvement industry," she said, and a critical component is customer service. She understands the needs of seniors looking to remodel the bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair or how to redesign an existing tub into a walk-in shower.

A member of the Mokena, New Lenox and Frankfort chambers of commerce, Zeller said she's noticed a commitment from homeowners in the Lincoln-Way communities to stay in their homes. They're not selling their homes; they're updating and remodeling them.

The current economy is good for the home improvement industry, she added.

The showroom is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about Bear Home Improvement, visit the website
