Mokena Chamber Seeks New Administrator

Mokena Chamber Administrator Gail Bastas resigned earlier this month and the board is in search of a new chief.

Board members for the Mokena Chamber of Commerce are closing in on their selection for a new administrator to replace Gail Bastas, who resigned her position. Her last day was July 3.

Chamber President Andrea Ramirez-Justin said Bastas' resignatioin was based on a family decision to be more available to her children. During her nine months in the role of administrator for the Mokena Chamber of Commerce, she served the community and membership well, said Ramirez-Justin.

As it stands, the Chamber Board is narrowing the list of at least 11 applicants. "We're at the final stage in the process of selecting a new candidate."

The board is looking for someone who will match the qualifications and skills that Bastas and the previous administrator brought to the position. With more than 300 members, the administrator is expected to be organized and savvy about business networking. It takes an individual with interpersonal skills and finesse in the realm of social media.

"We hope to be able to secure someone who will be with us long-term and will be able to offer the same level of outreach and community service that the other administrators have offered the membership and the community."
