Morgan's Thunder Bowl Sees Major Overhaul

Aside from the new bowling facility, Thunder Bowl will also feature a new bar and restaurant called The Alley Grill and Taphouse.

Have you seen the new Morgan’s Thunder Bowl?

The Mokena business of 14 years recently re-opened after a major rehab, and they’ve got plenty to boast about, according to the Sun-Times Media.

Take the brand new bar, for example, which offers 30 craft beers on tap, or the addition of new head chef, Joe Rizza. The Oak Forest native has been busy developing a new menu for the revitalized restaurant, soon to be called The Alley Grill and Taphouse.

“Instead of pub grub and finger food, we’ll have a lot of pastas, a shrimp scampi with Creole cream sauce, pasta with an option of blackened chicken or shrimp.” Rizza told the Sun-Times Media. “There’s nothing wrong with pub grub, and our sandwiches will be the best product I can give them.”

The new Thunder Bowl features spatial changes and new decorations. Much of the equipment, such as the billiards tables, has also been improved.

Propriators Craig and Paul Engberg say they’re hoping the changes will help recapture the lost family business they former relied on.

“Our original core was family entertainment and we want to get back to that, an entertainment complex with the bowling, the family restaurant, the banquets, just the whole thing,” Craig Engberg told the Sun-Times Media. “Over the years, you get complacent. The younger crowd came in with the leagues. We lost the family feeling.”

The grand opening for the new Morgan’s Thunder Bowl and The Alley Grill and Taphouse is scheduled for May 8.
