Photo Gallery: Fitness Center Steps it Up for Y-Me and Breast Cancer

When is a grand opening a grand gesture, too? When 3rd Dimension Fitness offers breast-cancer survivors a special deal and Y-Me a helping hand.

A fundraising tea with 80 breast-cancer survivors and their supporters in Frankfort last month inspired Joe Ranieri of 3rd Dimension Fitness in Mokena to help the Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization. “I was very touched ... and I wanted to help the cause,” Ranieri said.

So, he decided to offer breast cancer survivors free one-month memberships. And this past Saturday, he dedicated the grand opening of his club at 19148 Blackhawk Parkway to breast cancer patients with an introductory offer of “7 Days for $7” with all proceeds going to Y-Me. Ranieri said he’s impressed by the women’s positive attitudes and fighting spirits.

“They’ve been to hell and back, and they’re just living life to the fullest,” he said.
