Mokena Food and Wine Fest Set For This Weekend

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce's eighth annual Food and Wine Fest will take place at Yunker Farm. The Fest will feature food, wine, beer and live entertainment for all who attend.

This weekend marks the eighth year of the Mokena Food and Wine Fest and it's going to be bigger than ever. With about 1,200 people expected to attend the day-long event at Mokena's , co-chairperson Patricia Patt said that there is going to be something for everyone during her Village Clerk's comments at the Mokena Village Board meeting on Monday, Sept. 26.

Tickets for the Oct. 1 event, which runs from noon to 6 p.m., are $23 in advance and can be purchased at the , , online at www.Mokena.com, or at either of the two locations in Mokena. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event for $28, or $14 for designated drivers. All tickets are for those 21 and older only.

Included in the price of admission are nine food samples, eight wine samples, two micro-brew beer samples, a commemorative wine glass and access to live entertainment at the event.

“Truly the entertainment package that we have, that we're offering this year, that is worth the ticket price alone,” Patt said.

The entertainment for the day will be the Illinois Philharmonic Quartet, the Chico Smorgalles 17 piece Jazz Ensemble, the Rick Sinnott Bluegrass Group and the Alex Blomarz Trio. Patt was particularly excited about the Rick Sinnott Bluegrass Group because it is the first time in the history of the fest that a bluegrass band will be playing.
