Senior Spelling Bee

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.  Competition begins at 1:00 p.m.

Can you spell palindrome? Malapropism? How about minuscule?
The Association of Illinois Senior Centers, the Illinois Department on Aging, and Mokena Park District will host a FREE Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee competition for area residents age 50 and older.

This exciting state-wide competition gives participants an opportunity to showcase a lifetime of knowledge and to celebrate years of experience through their spelling abilities.  Local winners and runners up will advance to regional semi-finals. The State Finals will be held at the Illinois Building at the 2014 Illinois State Fair on Senior Day. The runner-up from the Mokena Park District competition in 2013 went on to win First Place at the State Finals!  Join us for this fun, free, brain-healthy activity! Transportation and expenses for those who advance are the responsibility of the winners.  Preregistration and participant handbook is available at the Administration Center.

Sponsored by our 2014 Platinum Sponsor - World Hyundai Matteson.
